Delete your account

1. 1Open Kaikōdo and log in.
2. 2In My trips, tap your profile picture (top right).
3. 3Tap Settings, then Account.
4. 4Tap Delete account, type your @username (or DELETE if you don't have one) and confirm.

Your account is deleted immediately, with no waiting period.

If you can't get into the app, email hello@kaikodo.app from your account's email address and we'll delete it for you.

• Your profile (name, photo, username).
• Your notifications, likes and comments.
• Your packing list in every trip.
• Spots and documents you uploaded as personal (visible only to you).

If you share trips with other people, part of your content is intertwined with theirs: an expense you paid is part of the whole group's balances, and a message is part of a shared conversation. Deleting it outright would break the balances or the conversation for people who haven't asked to delete anything. So:

• Shared expenses: the amount and the calculation are kept, but your email is replaced with an anonymous identifier and is no longer linked to you.
• Spots and documents shared with the group: they are kept, but who created them is anonymized.
• Chat messages: the text is kept so the conversation still makes sense, but the author is anonymized.

You leave all your trips as soon as you confirm, so you lose access to that content even though it stays, anonymized, for everyone else.
